479 Popcorn, A Great Gift Idea

Christmas is close… where did the time go? Tyler has had his first Easter, Fourth of July, Halloween, and Thanksgiving. It’s so exciting but bittersweet since the time if flying by so fast. I wish I could freeze the clock sometimes.

Anyways, I don’t like crowds. You will NEVER find me out on Black Friday. I love shopping online and when I come across a great company I make sure to share it with my readers. So for the next few days, my posts will help give you ideas for holiday gifts for those friends or family members that you don’t know what to get.

One unique company I found is 479 Popcorn.

We always have popcorn in our house but not the “good” “gourmet” kind.

While browsing the internet, I came across 479 Popcorn. They are based out of San Fransicso and make flavored, organic, gourmet popcorn. I contacted them and they sent me The Globetrotter Sampler to review.

The sampler included 5 boxes. Each box contained 1 quart of popcorn in flavors like Chipotle Caramel & Almonds, Ginger Sesame Caramel, Pimentòn de La Vera, Black Truffle & White Cheddar, and Madras Curry Coconut & Cashews.

The presentation was phenomenal, making me feel that we really were going to experience gourmet popcorn.

Todd and I tried the Pimentòn de La Vera right away. It had a sweet yet spicy kick to it. We could really taste the smoke flavored Spanish paprika and the sweet tomatoes.

A few days later we tried the Madras Coconut Cury and Cashews. This flavor reminds you of your favorite Indian dish. The curry shows through quiet well and the cashews are an added bonus.

Next up was the Chipotle Caramel and Almonds. This one was fantastic. Watch out kids… There’s a new gourmet adult Cracker Jack in town. The popcorn was full of caramel flavor with a hint of spice and a lot of crunch.

We haven’t had a chance to try the other 2 flavors, Ginger Sesame Caramel or the Black Truffle & White Cheddar. I’m actually debating on giving them away as Christmas gifts or being selfish and keeping them for myself. I’ve heard other reviews on them and from what I’ve heard they are really yummy.

Let me tell you more about the company… After a lot of experimenting, the Founder, Jean Arnold, found out that 479 degrees farenheit was the optimal temperature for popping corn. Thus, the name of the company was born.

“479° Popcorn began with a fond childhood memory of cozy evenings spent playing cards and devouring fresh popcorn with my family. My mom refused to serve anything other than organic popcorn cooked in a sturdy stovetop popper that she’d hand crank until the kernels turned into a delightful fluffy treat. Then, as now, a bowl of popcorn could turn an ordinary moment into a special occasion.” Jean Arnold

They air-pop the kernels and toss it while it’s still warm with caramel or one of their spice blends. Each batch is made right before it’s shipped so that it is fresh when it’s received. They only use the highest quality ingredients from local farmers and around the world. 479 Popcorn has 8 flavors to chose from… Alderwood Smoked Sea Salt, Chipotle Caramel & Almonds, Ginger Sesame Caramel, Pimentòn de La Vera, Black Truffle & White Cheddar, and Madras Curry Coconut & Cashews, Vietnamese Cinnamon Sugar, and Fleur de Sel Caramel.

Check out 479 Popcorn if you want to give someone a great gourmet gift. They have gift sets or they sell single-serves starting from $14.00. So go get some shopping done and start crossing off your Christmas list!!

Happy shopping !!

We were watching tv last night and got the munchies craving. Had a box of the 479. Ginger Sesame Caramel, and before you know, we scarfed down the whole bag. Great taste without any overpowering ginger taste. Perfect combo of all 3 flavors. Will look for more online. Two thumbs up.
