My DIY Wedding (Part 1)

As you’ve read before, my family is on a very tight budget. So when Todd proposed back in November, I felt so happy and excited but i also had feelings of fear. The fear was because I wanted a big wedding but I knew that we wouldn’t be able to have one because we just couldn’t afford it. Many hours of planning, calling, texting, and emailing went on trying to find the right venues for the ceremony and the reception. Luckily, I found a company called Sun Weddings for the ceremony that was highly recommended. They even suggested a venue for the reception that was completely affordable.

We had to limit the amount of our guests to stick with our budget and I also had to get crafty and I ended up making just about everything. From the invitations, to the place cards, centerpieces, wedding guests favors, and even more.

I made my own garters…

And even my own flip flops…

I bought a clear cylinder vase for each table at the reception and created the centerpieces. I used fake flowers, glass marbles, water, and floating candles to achieve this look.

My good friend and bridesmaid, Stephanie, got really creative and handcrafted my bridal bouquet.

Our wedding toppers were even handmade by Todd and I. We made them out of polymer clay, baked them in the oven, and clear coated them with clear finger nail polish.

On my next post, I’ll show you our creative and handmade wedding invitations, our place cards, ceremony programs and more.

Have a great day!
