Endangered Species Chocolate Review & Giveaway

Do you know that a puffin can fly at speeds up to 55 mph and swim underwater for up to a minute?

How about the fact that owls have developed special feather adaptations that enable them to minimize the sound made when flapping their wings?

Do you know that otters sometimes use rocks to crack open their catch, making them one of the few marine mammal known to use tools?

Where am I getting this information? Well, on the back of chocolate bars of course!

I was sent 3 chocolate bars made by Endangered Species Chocolate to facilitate this review.

“Endangered Species Chocolate (ESC) was founded in 1993 in effort to spread awareness and to make an impact on the growing number of plant and animal species that are dissapearing from Earth. Since then the mission has grown to embrace a new definition of “endangered” – that all species, habitat and humanity are endangered on our planet, not just animals on a list. 10% of net profits are donated to help support species, habitat and humanity.”

I have tried and reviewed Endangered Species Chocolate before and you can read about it in this post. So I was thrilled when I heard that they were sending me 2 of their new flavors. These two flavors bring the total of the current and most popular natural bar line to 14 different flavors. Both of these new bars contain seventy-two percent cocoa content and are certified gluten-free, kosher and vegan.

I’ll start first with the milk chocolate which I’ve had before. I normally prefer dark to milk, but this is one brand that I really like. It’s so creamy and not too sweet. If you are a chocolate lover, you might just fall in love with this milk chocolate bar. When I first reviewed the bar in 2011, I didn’t care for it too much, but somehow I think my taste buds have changed. I really liked it this time.

The next flavor I was sent is the dark chocolate with cherries.

I love chocolate and I love cherries so the combination of the two is pretty much a winner with me. The bar does contain 72% cocoa so it’s a bittersweet taste. If you aren’t a fan of dark, you probably won’t like this one.

The last chocolate bar I tried is the dark chocolate with sea salt and almonds. One bite from this and I was transformed into heaven. I have now had THE BEST chocolate bar that I have ever had the pleasure of tasting.

Again, if you don’t like dark, this might not be to your liking. I’m a fan of dark chocolate so the addition of sea salt and almonds sent me overboard. There is a good amount of salt and almond pieces in every bite you take. My mouth is watering just writing this post. Mmmmmm! Must get more of this chocolate ASAP!

I’m a big supporter of this chocolate, not only because I love the taste and the flavors, but because Endangered Species Chocolate donates 10% of net profits to organizations that support species conservation, habitat preservation and humanitarian efforts.

Okay here’s the fun part of this post…
