I did it. I went back for more deep-fried food!

Don’t worry, I didn’t get the heart attack awaiting deep-fried butter. That’s just gross. But, we did eat some kettle corn.

And Tyler fed the goats. Literally. Check out lil goatie munchin on Tyler’s pocket.

My feet are aching and my waistband is snug. No more Fairs for a long time!

The Strawberry Festival is next month, but that’s not considered a Fair right?

Anyways, let’s talk about some healthier food, like Edward & Sons Trading Co.

Edward & Sons’ Trading Company, Inc. was born out of a commitment to create delicious natural foods featuring convenient preparation in step with busy, health-aware lifestyles. We travel the world to taste and evaluate regional foods, to source the finest ingredients, and to partner with the most reliable farmers, packers and food artisans to create our unique range of natural and organic specialties. We began in 1978 with instant Miso-Cup®, the natural vegetarian soup and seasoning. Featuring simple, wholesome, freeze-dried ingredients in a handy pocket-sized pouch, it required only the addition of hot water to create savory, satisfying soup-in-seconds™ just about anywhere. Miso-Cup has nourished people on the go for over three decades, and remains extremely popular today. It became the first of many Edward & Sons’ items that would exemplify our motto: “Convenience Without Compromise” ™.”

Edward & Sons sent me 5 of their products to sample to facilitate this review. Edward & Sons is a vegetarian company which means that all foods throughout their family of brands contain no ingredients derived from meat, or fowl or fish. They are family run company which was founded in 1978.

“You will find our products marketed under an eclectic family of brands: Edward & Sons™, Premier Japan®, Let’s Do…Organic ®, Native Forest ®, The Wizard’s™, Road’s End Organics®, etc. Each brand represents different characteristics and product groupings. For example, Premier Japan® serves up full-bodied Asian flavors in popular bottled sauces such as Hoisin and Teriyaki. Ours are wheat-free, vegan and certified organic. Let’s Do…Organic® products encompass fun and fanciful organic specialties like Ice Cream Cones and Gummi Bears, and include packaged ingredients for the home baker such as Coconut Flakes and Tapioca Starch – all certified organic. Native Forest® brand features unique natural and organic specialties in cans or glass jars, ranging from Marinated Artichokes in Extra-Virgin Olive Oil, to rich and creamy Organic Coconut Milk, to plump and juicy Organic Mandarin Orange Segments packed in their own organic juice. All are sure to please the palate of the most discerning natural gourmet.”

I first sampled the Edward & Sons Homestyle Mashed Potatoes and the Roads End Organics Golden Gravy. They were easy to prepare and I followed the instructions, but the texture was a bit thicker than what I’m used too.

I’m sure I could have thinned it out with more water, but I was in too much of a rush to eat. (Tyler was down for a nap and due to wake up). You just need milk (you can use coconut, almond, soy, regular milk…) and butter. First, you boil some water and butter, then remove from heat and stir in the potato flakes. Then you add the milk to achieve desired consistency. My potatoes were on the thick and lumpy side. Again… my fault.

The next product I tried was the Brown Rice Snaps.

I was hesitant, thinking they weren’t going to have much flavor. Boy, was I wrong. I was sent the vegetable flavor, and they tasted super yummy. They don’t contain sugar, they are whole grain, and made from real vegetables. The Snaps are crunchy, and have a wonderful mild garlic flavor.

My favorite of the products so far goes to these babies…

Native Forest Organic Marinated Crimini Mushrooms. I love marinated or pickled veggies, so this was a no brainer. The mushrooms had a delicious Italian flavor and are wonderful by themselves, or you can add them to salads, main dishes, whatever your heart desires.

I still have a box of the BBQ Rice Snax to try but I don’t like bbq flavors, so I’m saving them for Todd to try.

I love the fact that these products are organic and made from healthy ingredients that you can pronounce. It’s not easy to find vegan and gluten-free foods that actually taste good, but these products sure do! Their motto is “Convenience without compromise”, and that is definitely what they have done. Edward & Sons Trading Co will never contain artificial flavors or colors, chemical preservatives or hydrogenated fats. So if you are vegan, on a gluten-free diet, or only eat kosher food, give Edward & Sons Trading Co a try.

But wait… this generous company not only sent me these fabulous products to sample, they are going to give 2 lucky readers a chance to try all of these products as well. Awesome!

I have many favorite romantic movies. I Love the Notebook and How to Lose A Guy In Ten Days. I also LOVE Ever After. I think my MOST favorite though would have to be either A Walk To Remember or 13 Going On 30.
