Tyler had a busy and fun-filled weekend! We started off by visiting the Lowry Park Zoo with his Papa on Saturday.

The weather was absolutely perfect being in the mid 70′s. The sun was shining with a slight breeze so we didn’t get too hot. The animals were out enjoying the sunshine as well. My Dad snapped this wonderful picture of a chimpanzee.

We also came across this cute little baby elephant. Her name is Mpumi and she was born on Dec. 23, 2012. Mpumi is only the second elephant calf in the zoo’s history (the first birth was in 2005). Isn’t she adorable? I wanted to take her home.

We went to the Safari Lodge located in the zoo for lunch where we enjoyed meatball subs. I didn’t know the Safari Lodge was even in the zoo. We always grab chicken fingers and fries in the kid’s area. The meatball sub was a much better tasting choice. ;) My Dad was inspired by our lunch and went home and made his own yesterday.

He used Alton Brown’s recipe, although he substituted extra ground beef for the lamb.

Looks great Dad!

Yesterday, Tyler and I met my best friend Arlene and her family at the Florida State Fair.

Arlene had her first taste of fried Oreos. You can read about her reaction to the Oreos here.

Tyler wasn’t impressed with them and only wanted to eat the powdered sugar. Shocking.

Okay, seriously… when did Tyler become independent? He totally rode this fire engine ride all by himself while acting too cool for school. He’s growing way too fast.

After I picked up my broken heart, we walked around some more and grabbed some fried Wisconsin Cheese, which Arlene was so kind to share. It was so dang good!

We left the fair with a bag of cotton candy, a stuffed frog (which Tyler won playing a balloon/dart game), popcorn, a jug of peach tea and a cool conductor hat which Tyler adores. All in all, a fantastic weekend full of fattening foods and lots of sugar.

Hope you had a wonderful weekend and are off to a great week!

Happy Monday!
